Point cloud illustration

Point clouds are sets of 3-dimensional points which represent X, Y, Z geometric coordinates in any surface and generated using 3-D scanners such as LiDAR (light detection and ranging) devices, laser scanners and sonars. Sometimes each point in the cloud contains more data such as time of scanning, intensity and color of the object depends on the sensor capabilities.

In today’s applications such as surface reconstruction, geometry quality inspection, construction progress tracking and any other mission that needs a 3-D modelling, point clouds datasets are the most common data structures.
